Bind QX90 tiny drone with a DSM receiver

The DSM receiver used on the Tiny QX90 doesn’t have a bind button. To bind QX90 with a DSM receiver just plug the battery to the quad, turn on your transmitter and click the bind button on the transmitter.

When the QX90 switches on, the receiver tries to bind for about 3 seconds (led blinking). Once binded the led will stay on.

FPV Camera Tilt

learning to use the FPV camera tilt will help finish more race laps and in turn help you fly faster gradually.

Since the FPV camera acts as our human eyes we tend to want to aim the quad in a way that will point the camera in the natural direction our eyes are pointed usually. If you take a moment to think about it, we point our eyes towards the horizon, mostly. This determines where our FPV cam will be pointed during flight.

Naze32 Rev6 ESC calibration

You can’t calibrate the ESCs on Naze32 Rev6 like you used to do in rev5, by using the motor tab, as trying will result in your motors spinning when thinking you are about to calibrate your escs.

This is a result of the lack of separation between the high voltage and low voltage on the rev6.

naze32 rev6 ESC calibration process:

The trick to calibrate without disassembling anything is:

  1. plug USB and connect to cleanflight.
  2. move to CLI tab and type the following commands:
    1. set min_command = 2000
    2. save
  3. unplug USB.
  4. plug Battery.
  5. plug USB and connect to cleanflight.
  6. move to CLI tab and type the folowing commands:
    1. set min_command = 1000
    2. save
  7. Done 🙂

PID tuning in the Air – FPV miniquad

PID tuning is the more complicated and less understood task in the FPV racing community. Although stock, default, PID values give an OK flying characteristic, I strongly suggest putting the effort into understanding how to tuning works.

This post will not cover PID tuning, but HOW-TO tune your PIDs in the air, using your remote. This will help make the process much easier and faster!

Fix corrupt video – Foxeer Legend 1 and Xiaomi Yi

While flying FPV it happens once in a while that your camera gets bumped on the floor and stops recording. This results in a corrupt video file. Nothin is more frustrating than finding a ~1GB video file that won’t play, you know it’s there, but it doesn’t work! I found an app that will fix corrupt video files from the Foxeer, Xiaomi and GoPro (maybe runcam too, but i don’t have one to test). It’s free 🙂
